History: This classic wooden carousel was built in 1919 by the Herschell-Spillman company. It is a traveling country-fair style carousel with originally 2 rows of horses and 2 double chariots.
According to the owner, Tom Haggard, the carousel was possibly in Oklahoma and Manitou Springs, CO prior being in its current location at Santa’s Workshop since 1966. In keeping with the Christmas theme, the 9 metal reindeer were added in place of some of the horses while retaining 12 of the original wooden horses and the chariots.
